A world with or without 'Social Media'...
In about 3 billion people in the world, around 40% use social media online, tweeting, posting, tagging or following someone for an average 2 hours. Social media is a interface in which an individual is allowed to communicate with the rest of the world, it connects one to the outer world. It helps to share information, knowledge or ideas in almost every possible topic.
Nowadays, social media has made connectivity and interaction between web users much more faster and efficient than the days not long ago in which we needed to send letters or postcards wait for them to reach and then get a reply posted again. This method was not quick at all and it would take around a week to say something to a relative of yours living in the neighbouring city and get a reply of it, but now with the intervention of social media you can deliver a message to even more than one people in just few seconds. Now through social media you can stay in touch with anyone you want to, without worrying about the distance between the person and you. With the help of social media you can find your old friends whom you had forgotten or last met long back and had not communicated since then or you can stay updated with the news of around the world, some new technology or a car and many more topics, and even share your opinions on them. If you are new to the city, even then social media helps you, by showing you where you can find what, and which all friends are here and even locate you around. Social media can do everything, from helping you share some good news which you feel everyone should know, or, just to keep you entertained with videos, music, jokes and of course, friends.
Even though social media has so many positive sides, it has many disadvantages. The main problem is hacking and privacy. Some social networking sites post many things that you might not want to share with someone, like you visited some place or a restaurant or you bought some product online. There is also one thing known as hacking. Hackers can hack your social media accounts and take out important information about bank accounts or anything else. They can also steal something important from your account like a story you were writing or a movie and demand a heavy ransom for it or threaten to publish it. It can also lead you into disagreements with someone on a comment you've posted. Studies suggest that while social media is connecting the world, it's having a greater on our stress and moods. Some people say that they use social media as a stress buster, but in fact they are getting more stressed and envious. Even on browsing a social networking site at least for half an hour can lower our moods. It also has lowered our quality of informal conversation.
For the conclusion, if somebody asks me that which is a better option, I will choose a world with the social media, but, with some limitations to it. But in the end I leave it on you to decide whether the world is a better place with or without social media. Comment below your views on this topic, maybe it can even influence my views on the topic. Thank you!
